Sesleria nitida
(Poaceae)
Grey moor grass
Native to central and southern Italy and Sicily. Appears strongly grey-blue in the landscape.
The semi-evergreen leaves, up to 6mm wide, are two-toned, like those of Sesleria caerulea and
Sesleria heufleriana, but they lie flat, with the strongly glaucous upper surfaces always
visible. Also the tallest of the three species, forming a flowing mound of foliage to 50cm tall,
over topped in early spring by nearly black flower panicles similar to the other spring-flowering
species. Useful accent plant.
Ht. 50cm. Very hardy
