Tall purple moor grass.
Native to fens, fen scrub, and along rivers in the British Isles as well as to
continental Europe and Asia. Produces mounded basal foliage 60 - 90cm tall,
topped by stately inflorescences to 2.4m tall, either upright or arching.
Leaves green or grey-green in summer, to 12mm wide. The entire plant turns rich
golden-yellow in autumn. Strong sculptural form. Needs a few seasons to reach
mature size and beauty, but will last for many years with minimal maintenance.
Best in cool climates. Tolerates low soil fertility.
