Miscanthus sinensis 'Variegatus' (Poaceae)

The white-striped foliage of this antique cultivar still provides the strongest white landscape effect of all the Miscanthus; unfortunately mature specimens usually need staking. Blooms in mid-September, opening strongly red-tinted, to 2.1m tall. Young plants make superb container specimens.
