Miscanthus sinensis

Japanese silver grass
Native to slopes in the lowlands and mountains of Japan. The premier Miscanthus species,
of exceptional beauty and variability, but always strictly clump-forming. The typical form
of the species is rarely grown, having blue-green leaves to 2cm wide with prominent white midrib.
Produced from August to October, the 30cm long panicles are full and dense, opening
reddish-coloured and fading to silver-white upon drying. Typical autumn foliage colour is yellow.
Handsome and graceful ornamental grass.
