Native to wet soils and shallow water in marshes and at the edges of rivers, ponds, and lakes in Europe and temperate Asia. Green-leaved, with erect, airy flower panicles 2 - 2.4m tall, appearing mid to late summer. Attractive to waterfowl. Requires full sun and moisture. Not particular about soils.
