Festuca violacea
(Poaceae)
This rather rare dwarf gem of a grass hails from the Mediterranean and parts of Western Europe.
Growing to 25cm tall, it forms neat compact tufts of fine, metallic, turquoise blue leaves
topped by short, golden seed heads. Will do well in drained soil in full sun. Attractive when
planted in drifts.
