Cyperus involucratus (Cyperaceae)

Umbrella plant,   Umbrella sedge,
umbrella palm.

Native to Africa. The slender leafless stems grow to 1m tall, each topped by an umbrella-like spiral of up to 25 dark green bracts that are flat and narrowly leaflike to 15mm wide and 10 - 30 mm long.
