Common quaking grass,
Doddering Dillies
This Eurasian native is common nearly throughout the British Isles on a variety of soils
from light to heavy, dry to damp, and acid to calcareous. A cool-season grower.
Diffusely branched panicles appear in May and are tipped with small heart-shaped
flowers that rattle and rustle in the breeze. Especially fine for drying. Reliable
and easy to grow in full sun or even partial shade. Tolerant of poorly drained, heavy soils
and somewhat drought tolerant.
